Circling repetitions scaffold a stoic, watchful ambience in this inaugural offering from Levitating Mausoleum (one shadow of Elder Wall operator M. Tiesenhausen). Sparsely populated field recordings are washed over with ambiguous liturgical or enginelike droning, indicating a perspective at once contemplative and hunted—a rural experience of the divine and terrible. Borne on long-form churning rhythms and punctuated by distant bells, Albright Turbine brings an overhanging, funerary abandonment to bear above first-person topographies.
